Maya Gohill

Maya is a Canadian artist, educator, and conscious life/parenting coach, living and working in Calgary, AB.

Maya has degrees in both Painting and Illustration which she earned from UofC and the Academy of Art University, SF, respectively.   She is an oil painter at heart and loves the luscious beauty of this medium. Although she works more as a fine artist than an illustrator, her training in illustration informs much of her work, both in style and in process. Her extensive study of the figure and portrait remains pivotal to her work.

Her work can be found around Calgary, (large-scale mural at Simon’s downtown, Phil and Sebastian Coffee Roasters, Fonda Fora Restaurant at the Westley), in anthologies such as the Star Wars Art: Visions, and the Society of Illustrators, as well as in art collections throughout North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

After 17 years teaching at the post-secondary level Maya shifted gears from teaching art to working in her studio full-time. In addition to her commissioned work for families and individuals, she makes pottery, nerds-out over ceramics and interior design, and obsesses in her role as a Certified Coach Practioner of the Conscious Parenting Method. She loves spending time with her partner, son, and their dog, Bart. If you’d like to know if she is currently taking commissions, please drop her a line.
